Cottonwood Investment Group was founded on a commitment to delivering quality construction services with a personalized touch.
With roots in the rough framing and carpentry industry in Canada, our journey began decades ago when Michael Crijan, a second-generation carpenter, honed his skills under the guidance of his family. Over the years, Michael expanded his expertise to include a wide array of construction services, ranging from single-family homes to large-scale multi-family projects.
In 2022, Michael and his family relocated to Southwestern Florida, bringing their extensive experience and dedication to the region’s growing market.
Meet Michael Crijan
Canada, 1990s
Early Beginnings
Michael began his career in construction as a teenager, learning the trade of rough framing and wood construction alongside his father and brother. This foundational experience set the stage for his deep understanding of the industry.
2000s
Establishing His Own Path
After years in the family business, Michael launched his own rough-framing and carpentry company. He successfully managed 20-25 crews, delivering entire new construction communities for large-scale Canadian and multinational builders like Mattamy Homes.
2012
Licensed Builder and Custom Homes
Michael became a licensed builder with the Ontario Homebuilder's Association, expanding his expertise to custom homebuilding. He focused on creating unique homes in the 2,500-3,000 sq.ft. range, blending high-end design features with practical family living.
2020
Venturing into Spray Foam and Fireproofing
Seeking new challenges, Michael entered high-rise commercial and residential sector, specializing in spray foam insulation, intumescent fireproofing, and cementitious fireproofing. His commitment to quality quickly established a strong market presence in this niche.
2022
A New Chapter in Florida
Michael moved to Southwestern Florida with his family, seizing new opportunities in the vibrant local market. He founded Cottonwood Investment Group, focusing on framing, homebuilding, and construction consulting services, while continuing his role as Director of Construction at Catana Construction Inc.
